About the role
Attop Group is recruiting reliable, professional and customer-focused SIA Door Supervisors for assignments across London.
Opportunities may include pubs, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, private functions, live entertainment venues and events. You will help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff while supporting the venue’s entry policy, licensing conditions and security procedures.
We are looking for approachable individuals who communicate confidently, exercise sound judgement and remain calm when dealing with challenging situations.
Venue locations, assignment duties, shift times and the applicable pay rate will be confirmed before each booking. Available hours depend on client requirements and your availability.
Key responsibilities
* Manage entry and exit points in accordance with the venue’s admission policy and assignment instructions.
* Check identification and support the venue’s age-verification procedures where required.
* Manage queues fairly and professionally, keeping entrances, pavements and emergency access routes clear.
* Conduct authorised searches of customers, bags and belongings in accordance with training, consent requirements and venue procedures.
* Identify prohibited items and follow the correct reporting and escalation process.
* Monitor customer behaviour and identify potential conflict, intoxication, harassment or other safety concerns.
* Refuse entry or ask individuals to leave when authorised and appropriate, explaining decisions calmly and respectfully.
* Use communication and de-escalation skills to resolve disagreements wherever possible.
* Respond proportionately to incidents, acting within the law, your training and the venue’s procedures.
* Support the welfare of vulnerable customers, including anyone who appears unwell, distressed or at risk.
* Report suspected drink spiking, safeguarding concerns and suspicious behaviour immediately.
* Patrol designated areas and help prevent unauthorised access, disorder, theft and damage.
* Support safe evacuation and emergency procedures when directed.
* Work closely with venue management, colleagues, emergency services and other authorised personnel.
* Use radios and any assigned equipment professionally.
* Complete incident reports, refusal records and other required logs accurately.
* Support an orderly departure at closing time, considering the safety of customers and the surrounding community.
* Remain at your assigned position until properly relieved or authorised to leave.
Essential criteria and credentials
* A valid, active front-line SIA Door Supervisor licence, which will be verified before deployment.
* Aged 18 or over.
* The right to work in the UK, verified through the recruitment process.
* A five-year checkable employment, education and activity history, including explanations of gaps, to support BS 7858 screening and client vetting requirements.
* Verifiable references and satisfactory completion of identity, licence and screening checks.
* Clear spoken and written communication for customer interaction, radio use and incident reporting.
* A calm, respectful manner and confidence handling challenging situations.
* Strong customer-service skills and the ability to apply venue policies fairly and without discrimination.
* Reliability, punctuality and a professional appearance.
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues and follow instructions from supervisors and venue management.
* Availability for evening, night and weekend assignments.
* Ability to carry out the operational duties, which may involve standing, walking and working outdoors. Reasonable adjustments can be discussed.
* A reliable travel plan for reaching venues and returning home after late finishes.
A Security Guarding licence alone does not cover door-supervision duties at licensed premises.
Desirable experience and qualifications
* Previous door-supervision experience in pubs, bars, nightclubs, hospitality venues or live events.
* A current Emergency First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work or equivalent qualification.
* Up-to-date conflict-management and physical-intervention training relevant to your licence and duties.
* Completion of ACT Awareness or other relevant counter-terrorism awareness training.
* Training in safeguarding, vulnerability awareness, drink-spiking prevention or welfare support.
* Experience using radios, body-worn cameras or electronic incident-reporting systems.
* Experience in busy London venues, late-night environments or customer-facing security.
* Supervisory or head-door-supervisor experience for assignments requiring additional responsibility.
Some venues may require specific experience, additional training or a client assessment before deployment.
Professional standards
Successful applicants will be expected to:
* Arrive punctually and attend all required briefings.
* Wear the agreed uniform and display their SIA licence as required.
* Follow venue policies, licensing conditions, assignment instructions and emergency procedures.
* Treat customers, colleagues and venue staff with dignity and respect.
* Maintain confidentiality and handle personal information responsibly.
* Use mobile phones only as permitted during duty.
* Avoid alcohol or any substance that could impair performance.
* Report incidents, hazards, welfare concerns and changes affecting licence validity promptly.
* Maintain professional boundaries and follow Attop Group’s reporting and communication procedures.
Working arrangements
Assignments are available across different parts of London. Please tell us which areas you can reasonably travel to and whether you are available for late finishes.
The venue, reporting arrangements, shift times, pay rate, contract terms, breaks and uniform requirements will be explained before each assignment. Ongoing work may be available, but hours are subject to client bookings and operational requirements.
